Sugars Day 4

Today we made roses and leaves to go on our bases. This is self-explanitory, so I will just let you look at the photos!

Sugars Day 2 and 3

I missed day 2, oops! Day 3: We used isomalt (a sugar that can be cooked very hot, and does not crystalize easily) to make a base for a small showpiece. We pulled the sugar in a way that made a series of small tubes within the piece. It sort of looks like a bundle of coffee straws together.
Looks like grits doesn't it?
Do you see the really long piece of sugar stretching all the way around the table?
In case you were wondering, 340 degree sugar under a heat lamp is very hot! Imagine that...

Sugars Day 1

Sugars class.... the creative class. This is all about decoration, not edible products. We started with a long lecture, then preping products for the other days. We had such a long lecture, that chef let us go get food if we wanted to, so we had a chick-fil-a breakfast.
Then we cut out stencils for sugar "swans" that we made another day. Swans and roses were a common thread throughout this class.

Advanced Cakes Day 9

Free cake day, for practicals. We could make whatever cake we want as long as it is 2 tiers and covered in rolled fondant. My "rococo" cake, which looks like a sorority cake!
Other cakes from the class.....
Cleaning out table made some tie-dye rags!

Advanced Cakes Day 8

Marzipan rose cakes:
Ugly Swag and rose cakes....80's buffet anyone?
Brandi's cake
This was rather fun!
