Cookies, Day 1

1. Class started with a long lecture on cookies (types, textures, methods of forming, etc.)

2. Each group was assigned a different basic cookie to make, chocolate chunk, peanut butter, molasses, white chocolate macadamia nut, snickerdoodle, or oatmeal raisin. We got chocolate chunk! Could we start with anything more simple for the first cookie?

We made a LOT of chocolate chunk cookies! Our group alone made 200 cookies, which took 16 sheet pans.

3. Chef gave us way more time than needed to get the cookies done, it took under an hour but he gave us three. Therefore, chef gave us extra things to do for the next day. We cut eight pineapples into a small dice, which is a lot of cutting!

4. We still had excess time, so we had a snack of course! We all still had sorbet from practical left, so we dug in. Brandi had made coconut, Whitney (my other table-mate) had made passion fruit, and I obviously had made cassis. This was a suprisingly good combo!

End of Day 1.
